TRANSPARENCY

No one and I mean no is more transparent and ‘gut-honest’ with Almighty than King David in biblical history.

He committed adultery.  He then forced the death of his most loyal soldier as well as the  husband of the woman he slept with.  This mighty, beloved King and man after God’s own heart made a monumental mistake, and suffered greatly in the end.

However, unlike many of us, when he was confronted with his perverted disobedience by a prophet God sent to him, David admitted, “I have sinned.”

His passionate prayer in Psalm 51 says it all.  King David admitted to Almighty what many of us ‘unfree’ people will not do:

Against you, you only, have I sinned

    and done what is evil in your sight;

so you are right in your verdict

    and justified when you judge (51:4 NIV).

Transparency.  It means becoming visible; to show through—what’s really inside us.  David came clean with himself and with God.  Then and only then did David discover an inestimable freedom and inner peace that was  precious and priceless.

….and so will we.
