My younger brother has been a connoisseur of food for years. Just recently he made the statement that sometimes a chef can have all the flavors and yet not have the right texture in a meal.
That word texture got to rolling around in my head forcing me to better understand what it means. It comes from an old language that actually means ‘to weave.’
There are cognates of this word texture, of course, in a number of languages sharing a common ancestor.
Woven. The certain dish that some of you remember grandma for, had that memorable taste, but she also added that delectable texture that made all the difference in the world.
Life in a home or family or business or practice can have all the right ingredients, but if that texture, that woven fabric of love and respect are missing there’s no peace or true happiness.
….and yes, grandma’s chocolate fudge brownie had just the right taste and I might add texture, too—-mmmmmmm!
