We were in the old house in Pinehurst, TX.  In the background was a cage of several flying squirrels.  Our late brother, David, would go trapping for these unique little fellows with me and later we actually sold them to mostly family members (10 Bucks each).  And you can be sure our mother helped us make those sales.

Thank God our family members kept speaking to us.  Why?  Because these little dickens would bite the fire out you.

So vivid today in my mind now when I was nine years of age our sainted mother was with me cleaning and dusting in this room.  {Still surprised she let us bring these little rascals into our home}.

I turned to my mom (mamadukes, as we often called her) and asked her how to become a Christian.  She explained to me the best she could; and that coming Sunday I gave my life to Christ.

Now, 78 years later I can just see her and Jesus dying laughing as she must have told Him about how He competed with flying squirrels.

….and He won, of course.
